Where: Haa
Map: Haa is marked with a big red dot.

It was a grey and rainy day at the very end of August, the plan was to walk the king's road southbound til we reached the point where we stopped and turned around a few days before when we walked north on the king's road. We started by visiting the old vicarage at Haa, it now serves as both a museum and a gallery displaying modern art. We then walked outside and visited a Iron Age grave site. We ate our lunch, and as soon as we finished it started raining really bad. So the walk along the king's road was cancelled. We took a look inside the museum part of the vicarage in stead, and then drove to the Obrestad lighthouse. The weather was getting worse by the minute, and we desided to just drive home. Didn't get too much fresh air and exercise, but it was a nice trip all the same. I have devided the pictures into three sections, one for the gallery, one for the museum and finally pictures taken outside and at the grave site.

The art gallery at Haa Old Vicarage
56 156   Some call it art, others would claim it is crap. I'll leave it up to you to deside.
49 990   I personally call this "curtains that failed miserably" hehe. I am sure the artist was pleased with them though.
49 238   If this is art, then I will claim that anyone in the world can make art. Now the question is, how the heck do you sell the crap you put together for a very high price?
40 124   "Hey look at me, I can dye fabric - I must be an artist!" haha Can you tell I am not too impressed by this socalled art? I think the wall outlet below the rug has a better design.
45 298   Bønna took the pictures, he obviously liked what he saw. I on the other hand deleted at least half of them before I made this presentation. Another failed curtain in this one.
36 546   Last dyed rug for today. If you think this is bad, wait til we show the seventies wallpaper revival haha
71 529   Now we are talking art. I love glass ware and fancy little thingies like the next few pictures will show.
56 156   Not the best picture, a bit too heavy on the back light. But some very nice glasses though.
56 156   Same glasses, from the other side this time. A way better picture, congratulations to Bønna the photographer. I know you are thinking "of course it is a better picture, I can spot you in it" haha uhm yeah right. There might even be someone out there that can spot The Dane, are you one of them?
56 156   Here I am again, getting a better look at a very very nice piece of glass. Why does it have to be so darn expensive?
56 156   More glasses, mugs, vases, figurines and bowls. If I had the money I would go mad in a place like this.
56 156   So many beautiful things, so little cash. *sigh* I should start a fund to raise money. I'll call it "The bring art to the Duck fund".
56 156   I love the metal raised floor thingie they made here, I must make mental note to build similar features into my future house.
56 156   It is cool, don't you think?
56 156   If I ever build or buy a huge castle made from stone, I must make sure to get candle holders like this one. Kind of gothy looking, I likes.
56 156   A cup of coffee anyone? I like mugs, but I hate coffee. I'll have some hot chocolate though, thank you very much. :)
56 156   Another one of them gothy candle holders. I still likes hehe send money to fund!
56 156   Ok here starts the seventies wallpaper revival. Not sure if I should really comment, I might drive some artists to commit suicide.
56 156   Come to think of it, the world would be a better place if the artist behind this crap did top himself. Go for it baby! End the misery. haha
56 156   The only person more sad than the artist, is the poor sod that buys it. Not that I for a moment think that anyone will.
56 156   I am pretty sure that if I took a dump on canvas it would look better than this.
56 156   Relax, you're not having a bad acid flashback. Someone really did make this.
56 156   I am running out of words. There's really no way to descibe this without using four letter words, and I can't do that here.
56 156   Best part about this picture is that you can see parts of me and the tip of The Dane's shoe haha
56 156   Let's leave the seventies for a moment and relive the fluorecent eighties.
56 156   Back to the seventies again. Seriously, I blew my nose and it looked better than this. People wouldn't pay to hang it on their walls though.
56 156   Surely this must be the result of a 4th grade project at a gay elementary school. No offence to the gay community.
56 156   I think I once had a pair of PJs with this pattern. I am glad it was dark when I wore them.
56 156   The three last pictures from the gallery shows a piece of art that was really cool, but it doesn't really make good pictures. It was displayed in a dark room, and was white thread that glowed in the dark thanks to a black light system.
56 156   It wouldn't be easy to display this piece of art at home. It was very very cool though, actually the best piece in the whole exhibit.
56 156   Did you notice that all three pictures features The Dane? He is there, and if you spot him you win fame and fortune. I was there too, but wearing all black I did not show up in the pictures.
The Haa Old Vicarage museum
125 045   The main building at Haa Old Vicarage, seen from the outside. The Dane and I are walking towards the entrance.
56 321   As you can see, the weather is getting really bad. So we hurried inside.
86 319   Inside the house. I love these old ovens, they give such nice warmth on a cold winter day. Wish I had one in my apartment, but no such luck.
143 274   Another room, another oven. It seems they had one in almost every room. Must have been hell running around keeping them all burning.
71 166   Stairway to heaven hehe - It's an old vicarage, and the stairway led upstairs to the bedrooms. Think the vicar would call the bedroom heaven?
79 359   Upstairs there was a bunch of information about the history of the vicarage displayed on the walls.
50 573   If only Bønna was smart enough to take pictures where one could read the information, this could actually be an interesting picture hehe
82 654   It is a beautiful house, now why would they go and soil it with that crappy modern art stuff? Get some classic art up on those walls, please!
124 333   Now if we were told that Bønna was taking this picture I am sure we'd look at the camera and smile. But since he did not alert us, I am busy with my bottle and The Dane is folding a map. This is a children's room with tiny furniture and lots of toys.
88 046   Same room, this picture is showing some of the toys and The Dane's left arm.
83 924   More toys, and some children's doodles on the wall.
59 037   The Dane playing the piano. Uhm someone forgot to put The Dane in the picture. And as I remember he also forgot to actually play for us. Ok so it's just a picture of a piano, blame Bønna cause he took the picture! hehe
49 056   Another old house, next to the main house of the vicarage. We ran from the main house and into this one, it was still raining.
49 056   The little house was full of books inside. It was a very very cosy old house, I would love to sit there and read.
50 179   More books, and a couple of windows.
35 160   I am not a tall man, but compared to the doors in this house, I was huge. I wonder how often the occupants banged their heads on the door frame? hehe
57 712   This is where I would sit and read. And perhaps write a letter or two. It's just so gosh darn cosy!
54 492   This is how the house looked inside once we were done filling the car up with the books we wanted haha
86 368   The Dane and I in the kitchen. Notice how my head is blurred while the rest of the picture looks ok. You might say I do not have the sharpest mind in the room. Muahaha
74 467   Bønna took the picture, then he leaves it up to me to come up with a comment. It's not fair, I have no clue what the heck he wanted to capture here.
83 546   And this is where I would eat my dinner, if I lived in this nice little house.
The Iron Age grave site and the surrounding area
125 045   This information board came in handy, I am not too familiar with Iron Age burrial history. Although I did actually grow up next to a restored Iron Age farm. Hmm, great idea for our next outing, we shall go visit the Iron Age farm.
125 045   The lighthouse at Obrestad seen from a distance. The picture was taken from the cemetery looking South.
125 045   As seen in the pictures from some of our previous outings, we have a cow fetish. Here goes, one of the obligatory cow pictures.
125 045   The Dane and I by the cemetary. You can see the burial mounds of stone in the background.
125 045   As the waves hit the shore, there was a lot of spray in the air. Now before you complain that there is no actual spray in this picture, try to take a picture of something that happens in a few seconds with a digital camera yourself.
125 045   Bønna kept trying to capture that spray of sea water, almost got it here. Keep going Bønna, you might get the perfect sea spray picture soon.
125 045   I'm telling you, it is really hard to get the timing right with a digital camera.
125 045   Burial mounds. I would not mind being buried here, it is so peaceful. I love the sound of the ocean hitting the shore. *sigh* Too bad these pictures don't come with sound.
125 045   The future isn't looking too bright, that weather system is moving towards us. I like this picture, it is quite dramatic. And the gleam of light on the sea is nice.
125 045   The waves were getting bigger, and finally Bønna managed to capture a little spray on camera. Woohoo!
125 045   Nope, this is not a rerun of picture 38. This is a brand new picture of the Obrestad lighthouse as seen from the cemetary.
125 045   I don't think it is possible to take too many pictures of the sea. It is the perfect motif as no two pictures will ever look the same.
125 045   Another (failed) attempt at capturing sea spray. As you can see by the foam, we were just a few short moments late.
125 045   Yay! Woohoo! Finally! hehe a picture of some sea water spray over the rocky shore.
125 045   We thought this was a nice house, so we took a picture of it.
125 045   View from the cemetery. You can see some nice old boat houses in the background.
125 045   The Old Vicarage as seen from the cemetery.
125 045   Burial mounds with the nice house in the background. It is amazing how flat this part of the country is.
125 045   Same as No.53 really, only a bit closer and a bit brighter. The beauty of life with a digital camera, you can take tons of pictures and you never run out of film. :)
125 045   A little bunny wabbit hopped by, and Bønna captured the moment.
125 045   The bunny wabbit wasn't as cute and innocent as we thought. Here it is sneaking up on one of the cows, getting ready to charge at it and kill it in cold blood. Or maybe I have just seen too much Monty Python?
125 045   Burial mounds again, this time with the sea in the background. It is a bit weird to think that these man made features are still here after more than a thousand years.
125 045   The Dane is leading the way and I am following in his footsteps. And as the master photographer he is, Bønna did not cut the feet of the subjects hehe a little less sky and a little more feet next time dude.
125 045   A familiar motif by now, Obrestad lighthouse - this time without the use of zoom.
125 045   Stone fences like this one, are very common in Norway. They are everywhere. It is a nice and cheap way of fencing in an area.
125 045   Time for lunch, so The Dane and I hurry back towards the vicarage.
125 045   At first we thought this cow was extremely short, but it turned out the killer bunny wabbit had eaten it's legs! hehe
125 045   Another stone fence, this one surrounding the parking lot.
125 045   We had our lunch outside, and as we ate we noticed that the grass was a lot greener on one side of a fence, compared to the grass on the other side of the same fence. We were reminded of the old saying, and figured it would be fun to take a picture of it. Of course it pretty much looks the same on both sides of the fence in the picture. *sigh*
125 045   The Dane keeps going, just like that Energizer Bunny. I on the other hand, had a little rest.
125 045   And now I am trying to catch up with The Dane. Art gallery in the background.
125 045   A short drive later, and we arrived at Obrestad Lighthouse. This time it's a nice close up. The Dane can be seen to the left.
125 045   A reversal of the theme from earlier, this time it's Haa Old Vicarage as seen from Obrestad.
125 045   I am so glad he did not take a picture about 10 seconds earlier, cause then I did my personal little impression of the "bow" scene in the movie Titanic. Only I was standing on a cheap wooden stairway, alone, no romantic music either...
125 045   This is where the lighthouse keepers would live. The lighthouse is now fully automated, and we have no idea who lives there now (and why).
125 045   The view from the lighthouse, looking South.
125 045   And we end this session with a picture of the duck not looking too happy about the cold rain.
