Who: Bønna (Bjørn Tore) & EvilDuck (Tom)
Where: Stavanger - Flekkefjord
Map: Vedafjell is marked with a big red dot. Stavanger and Flekkefjord can also be seen on the map.

August 15th 2002 Bønna and EvilDuck went on a road trip. We started bright and early (2:30pm) and got back home at 10:30pm. We drove from Stavanger to Flekkefjord, and made several stops on the way. One of the most exciting and interesting places we stopped was Vedafjell. This was a major defense complex built by the German Nazis during WW2. Well they administrated the building of the site, the labour itself was done by Russian prisoners of war. It was built in 1943. The location was chosen carefully, it is the perfect spot for defending the area. It is close to the sea and on a fairly high hill. From the bunker you can look out over the ocean to the distant horison. I am sure you could have seen Canada if the planet Earth wasn't shaped like a ball. I have a short video clip showing the view from the very top of this defense complex in 360 degrees, but it is very large so I need to convert it to a smaller format before I make it available for you to download. Meanwhile you may gaze upon the selected pictures from the trip below. Enjoy.

Thumbnail: Size:   Description:

81 054   The view from the top of Vedafjell facing North-ish.
47 058   The view from the top of Vedafjell facing South-ish.
127 099   Yep, yours truely peeking up from the bunker. This is an anti air gun fundament thingy.
65 531   One of the many cave entrances.
117 279   The infamous Bønna looking just a tad too excited about entering the cave.
121 646   Same entrance, different angle. And a slightly less enthusiastic Bønna.
89 665   Looking into the cave from just inside the opening. It really is bigger than it looks.
91 221   Same picture as above, with one slight difference though. Can you spot it?
72 890   I really should complain, the ceiling is too low and I have to bend. Now who do I write about this?
105 552   Me, myself and I entering a bunker room.
81 682   This picture is supposed to show how steep the hill was, in stead it just makes me look really fat. Thanks Bønna!
82 807   The very top of the bunker complex, seen from the south.
97 487   This would be me on the stairway to the bunker on top of the complex.
52 961   Me looking like a dork pretending my flashlight is a pair of binoculars. Uhm it seemed a good idea at the time. Picture taken inside the top bunker.
33 413   This is what I see through my "binoculars" haha.
52 634   Now if I was gonna look like a dork, the least I could do was to make Bønna look like one too.
48 272   Looking smart Bønna, real smart.
47 870   Bønna getting out of the top bunker.
125 045   I have no clue what the heck this little room was for, but there was a pipe sticking out of the wall at approx penis height, so perhaps a toilet? hehe
56 321   Oh the classic picture, me holding the roof up and it is darn heavy!
41 146   Again, if I am gonna look like a dork, so is Bønna.
86 319   The cave had a wet floor in some places. Thus I am trying to step on the stones sticking out of the water. Don't want to get my boots wet.
143 274   There are many caves, and even more cave openings. This would be one of them.
71 166   Now comes a series of photos from a cave Bønna didn't want to venture into, perhaps because the entrance was very very wet.
79 359   I however, like the brave duck I am, did venture into the wet cave, and took these pictures so that Bønna could see how it was.
50 573   Bønna was smart, I got muddy and wet. To the right in this picture you can see some red on the cave wall. That red and muddy stuff covered the floor more or less.
82 654   By the end of the walk into the cave, I was also covered in this red stuff.
87 549   This picture shows the very end of the cave.
124 333   Just a wild guess, but I think there might have been a huge gun here.
88 046   Looking east from the big gun fundament. Can you spot our car in the parkinglot below?
83 924   The view in a south-ish direction. We should have brought a compass.
73 251   The EvilDuck himself just inside the main entrance of the largest cave in the bunker complex.
63 590   Just walking along, notice how high up the ceiling is in this cave.
59 037   Not unlike the energizer bunny I just keep on going and going and going...
49 056   It's amazing that there's still white paint on some of the walls after 60 years of decaying!
50 179   A stairway from the cave and up to a bunker.
35 160   Just looking up the stairs.
57 712   Remains of the electrical systems inside the cave complex. Getting a tad rusty after 60 years.
54 492   Resting for a moment inside the largest cave. Even brave exploring ducks must rest every now and then.
61 770   Bønna also had to park his ass for a sec, at least long enough for me to capture the moment.
86 368   Don't ask, I am gonna go with temporary insanity. I have no clue what I wanted to capture with this picture, but I am sure it was very very exciting.
74 467   Bønna walking down the stairs to the lower part of the main cave.
85 675   The cave goes on forever, deeper and deeper into the mountain.
83 546   I probably thought it would be good for you, the viewer, to see what I saw as I was walking down the same stairs. Again I would like to plead temporary insanity.
95 820   Yay! I reached the bottom of the stairs, and I didn't fall once! Help I haven't fallen, and I can get up! haha
93 446   No drooling girls, his ass is spoken for. No! Not by me silly, by his girlfriend. Anyways, walking back up the stairs.
89 184   Bønna half way up the stairs, turning around asking me to stop taking pictures of his ass hehe.
88 991   As if I ever listen hahaha!
57 238   Bønna walking towards the exit.
76 174   Here Bønna is trying to scare the shit out of me by jumping out of a side tunnel. No such luck though, I ran out of shit ages ago.
65 485   The hole he jumped out of.
39 771   Just showing off that white paint again.
75 248   Here I was trying to take a picture of this gutter that ran through the entire cave, but it doesn't really show in the picture.
72 349   Bønna is real happy to see daylight again.
102 772   Another picture of the exit, this time without Bønna.
60 477   And again, this time without using the flash.
38 583   Vedafjell as seen from the parkinglot.
123 179   Sometimes you wanna show the world how high up you were, but for some odd reason it never really shows in pictures. This was taken from the road, later picture will show the road from below.
58 601   Same place as last picture, only this time showing the narrow road going down the hill side.
41 541   Same place still, this time showing the little fjord we are on our way down to.
69 490   Looking down the walley from the same point as last picture, slightly different angle though.
86 844   Bønna standing next to his car (a BMW M3).
33 495   Same scenario, different angle.
106 479   Here you can see the road from below. It goes partially inside the mountain in tunnels and partially outside.
93 769   It doesn't really show in this picture, but these houses are built under a ledge. It's got to be pretty windy for the rain to hit those roofs.
83 829   I am a duck, so I kind of have a lake/pond fetish. This is a very nice one we found along the road.
86 233   And look, it even had ducks in it! Woohoo! hehe
111 778   Bare with me.
80 710   I'd like to live here I think.
74 520   This has got to be the worlds smallest church. I think it has standing room for 1 haha.
83 336   I'm not much of a church person, but this one is kind of cute.
95 008   And look at this, it even comes with a tiny graveyard. Aaaaww hehe
